Tourist in Your Own Town: April 2016

We love Charleston so much + tell people all the time that we are so lucky to get to live in a city that most people only get to visit. But we also know that when we travel we want to know where the locals go. Here's your local insider look at what we think is awesome around town.

Here's what we went around asking:

  1. How long have you lived in Charleston?
  2. What is your favorite thing about the people of Charleston?
  3. What is your favorite restaurant in Charleston?
  4. What is a secret spot that only locals know about?
  5. When you have family/ friends in town to visit, what do you take them to do?
  6. Why do you heart Charleston? ;)

Shaida Blackmon

  1. Since 2014
  2. My favorite thing about the people of charleston is that everyone is open and down to be adventurous.
  3. All of them. I have no favorite. I haven't had a bad experience yet. (Knock on wood)
  4. Charleston Pour House on James Island
  5. The beach
  6. Because it is a melting pot of so many people and a place I feel at home.

Megan Johnson

  1. On and off my whole life
  2. For a southern city, people come from all over. I meet people from different places all the time. Oh yeah and the beach!
  3. There are so many great places in Charleston I could go on forever. But honestly there are days I wake up and know I have got to go to Basil within the week, I just crave it.
  4. There is a fairly new dock on the edge of the West Ashley greenway. I love to walk or run there. If I am in a happy mood that day I may do a little yoga. As far as food everyone needs to try Dellz Deli. Momma Dell has a heart of gold.
  5. When friends come we usually go kayaking or I find a way to get them out on a boat. Walking out to see the lighthouses are a must also.
  6. i{heart}charleston because this city is a holy city where I feel blessed regularly. It is old meets new. I also love the way it feels southern and European all at once.
